Coupe Charles-Bruneau at Montreal

September 27, 2025

The first edition of the Charles-Bruneau Cup was inaugurated in 2021 as a tribute to Charles-Bruneau, the field hockey fan who created the dream and moving message of hope shared by all children with cancer who are fighting to beat the disease: “When I grow up, I’ll be cured!

Since its inception, the Cup has raised an unprecedented $4.5 million in support of the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, whose mission is to give children with cancer the best possible chance of recovery. An extraordinary success for the Fondation’s youngest event!

Efforts that count

By taking part in the Charles-Bruneau Cup, you’re making a direct contribution to a healthy future for the 2,000 children diagnosed with cancer in Quebec each year. Since 1980, the cure rate for the most common type of cancer, leukemia, has risen from 35% to nearly 85%. These more than promising advances are currently guiding researchers towards two goals: to cure the 20% of children whose cancer is resistant to treatment, and to improve the quality of life of children in remission so that they can achieve a true cure, without after-effects or complications – a reality, alas, that we don’t talk about often enough.
