The Coupe Charles-Bruneau in Montreal raises a net sum of $1,200,000

The 2024 edition of the Charles-Bruneau Cup in Montreal, presented by IGA, took place under glorious sunshine. More than 500 participants enjoyed themselves from the official puck drop to the final ball field hockey match. In the presence of our three young Heroes and Heroines, Charles, 12, Coralie, 8, Olivia, 7, all in remission from cancer, our spokespersons and ambassadors, as well as more than 20 public personalities, came together to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. This year’s Montreal edition raised a net sum of $1,200,000, bringing the total raised since the event’s inception to nearly $4,500,000.

“This event is particularly special because Charles was a great field hockey fan. Gathering around this sport is not only symbolic, it’s also sure to be a day of incredible fun for the participants. I sincerely thank all the players, as well as our partners, who raised incredible sums to support the Foundation in its mission to fund pediatric hematology-oncology research in Quebec. It makes me extremely proud to see this solidarity and renewed commitment.” Pierre Bruneau, founder and spokesperson of the Charles-Bruneau Foundation.

Public figures in attendance included Alexandre Bisaillon, Marie-Ève Dicaire, Félix Dolci, Isabelle Éthier, Emmy Fecteau, Steven Finn, Samuel Gauthier, Bruno Gervais, Meeker Guerrier, Jean-Thomas Jobin, Georges Laraque, Jean- Philippe Perras, Simon Pigeon, Antoine Pilon, Joey Scarpellino, Maxime Talbot, Anthony Therrien and Karl Walcott, who worked hard on the pitch, taking part in the All-Star Game with the young Heroes and Heroines. It was a fitting way to round off the month of September, which is also National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

“This year marks the 4th edition of the Charles-Bruneau Cup presented by IGA. I’m extremely proud to see this event grow in scope and notoriety. It’s thanks to the commitment and generosity of our merchants and employees that we support the Fondation Charles-Bruneau, whose initiatives make a real difference in the lives of children with cancer and their families. The Charles-Bruneau Cup is a memorable day, and we’re proud to have fed the players and their families in the IGA food court, where food and beverages were served. The Fondation Charles-Bruneau and IGA have been working together for 18 years now, and we’re delighted to be able to continue advancing research alongside them, with the aim of giving all children a cancer-free childhood.”
