315,000 raised for the 9th edition of the Circuit bleu Charles-Bruneau presented by Pelican
The 9th edition of the Circuit bleu Charles-Bruneau came to an end yesterday as participants gathered at Parc Saint-Laurent in Repentigny for the closing ceremony, after three great days of kayaking and paddleboarding. Partners, spokespersons, ambassadors, child heroes and families attended the unveiling of the $315,000 raised during the event.
Participants paddled on the water for one to three days to advance research on pediatric cancers, giving hope to the 2,000 children with cancer in Quebec each year. Miro, 3 years old, in remission from neuroblastoma; Samyra, 17 years old, in remission from Ewing’s sarcoma and Rania, 18 years old, in remission from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, were present as the heroes of this 9th edition.
“The Circuit bleu Charles-Bruneau presented by Pelican is a very special event for me. It is a unique experience to paddle several kilometers on the water in the company of a group of passionate and generous people. This edition was no exception to the previous ones. It was both emotional and successful thanks to the mobilization of participants and donors who are committed to making a real difference in the lives of thousands of children and their families,” said Paul Doucet, Foundation spokesperson and actor. He added: “Thank you for your solidarity and generosity.
Since the beginning of the summer, close to $5.5 million has been raised during events organized by the Fondation Charles-Bruneau. The Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau, the Charles-Bruneau Cup presented by IGA and the Circuit bleu Charles-Bruneau presented by Pelican have all been a huge success, thanks to a mobilized community determined to cure children with cancer in Quebec.
The Fondation Charles-Bruneau would like to extend its warmest thanks to all the paddlers who answered “yes” to support families affected by childhood cancer.
