Discover the Heroes of the Charles-Bruneau Cup
Vincent, Sarah-Lou and Benjamin have a common passion for hockey, but a path that is unique to them. Read and share the portrait of these young people who will be at the Charles-Bruneau Cup on September 3rd to encourage and thank players for their support.
Vincent, 20 years old
Vincent has a passion for video games and anything related to history. Since being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia four years ago, he has never given up… quite the contrary!
Determined to help other young people like him, he has become increasingly involved in the fight against cancer. Vincent has been involved with Leucan and was a proud spokesperson for Relay for Life. He was also a hero for the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau in 2021, and for the Charles-Bruneau Cup this year.
Although he had to be home-schooled due to treatment, Vincent has successfully completed Secondary V. He is currently pursuing a CEGEP degree. What would he like to do in the future? Become a history teacher… or a great video game player!
Sarah-Lou, 12 years old
Sarah-Lou was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in May 2021. After several months of treatment at CHU Sainte-Justine, she was recently discharged from the hospital. Her treatment is scheduled to end in September 2023.
Until then, Sarah-Lou will continue to live life to the fullest. She has recently discovered a love for reading and devours action and adventure books, as well as manga.
Her biggest dream? To become an actress! Sarah-Lou will soon be entering a high school with a program in dramatic arts. Later on, she would like to play a superhero role in an action movie, and visit Hollywood to see the letters on the hill. We can’t wait to follow your many adventures, Sarah-Lou!
Benjamin, 14 years old
Do you recognize Benjamin? He is a hero of the Charles-Bruneau Cup for a 2nd consecutive year!
Benjamin was diagnosed with T-type acute lymphoblastic leukemia almost four years ago. Last March, he completed his last treatment and officially went into remission. Although he still has many hospital visits to make, the teenager is happy to be back to the activities he had to give up in recent months, such as basketball, soccer and field hockey. He looks forward to getting back on the ice soon!
Benjamin has long dreamed of going to Australia, but now that he is in remission, a trip around the world is calling him. In the future, he would like to work in pediatric oncology, as a physician or pharmacist.
