Meet the Heroes and Heroines of the 2024 edition of the Coupe Charles-Bruneau in Montreal

On September 28, more than 40 ball field hockey teams will go the extra mile for young people like Olivia, Coralie and Charles, all in remission from cancer. Discover their story:

Olivia, 7 years old

Meet Olivia, heroine of the Coupe Charles-Bruneau in Montreal. This little girl is a real ray of sunshine. Always with a smile on her face and ready to clown around, Olivia is bursting with energy! You might even say she’s got springs in her body.

In December 2021, at the age of 4, Olivia was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She had to undergo frequent follow-ups at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, and was forced to put many of the activities she loved on hold. Her sister Frédérique and her parents helped her through it all, and she always remained positive. We’re told that she even encouraged her parents in difficult times.

The good news is that this dynamic and engaging young lady is now in remission, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet her at the Cup!

Coralie, 8 years old

Coralie, nicknamed Coco, is a smiling young girl bursting with energy. In November 2021, Coralie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. What followed was a series of treatments during which Coralie received several transfusions.

“I’ve often felt tired, but when I need energy, it’s Mom’s lasagne that makes me strong! When I’m cured, I’m definitely going to play field hockey, and what I’d also like is to have the power to save people.”

Coralie is now in remission and was able to start playing ice hockey on a women’s team in January. She’s even been playing ball field hockey since this spring! She’s the player you need on your team to win the Cup!

This wonderful news was celebrated with the arrival of Smokey, his dog, into the family. Despite his diagnosis, his parents say he has retained his infectious good humor and playful spirit.

Nicknamed Charlot, this 12-year-old boy is meticulous and loves math. In fact, his friends and family recognize him as a budding scientist! He loves spending time with his family, including his two little twin sisters, Camille and Chloé.
