CHARLES-BRUNEAU FACILITIES

Each year, some 300 Québec children are diagnosed with cancer. Children like Simon, Ariel, Éloïse and Adam…
Fortunately, their parents know that no matter where they live, their child will be taken into care immediately and receive the best care available at one of four Charles-Bruneau facilities (one centre and three units), where tomorrow’s medicine is being practiced today.

THE FONDATION

Our objective is clear:

Cure the 20% of children whose cancer is resistant to treatment and offer children in remission a true cure, free of side-effects and complications. How? By making a priority of financing leading-edge research in pediatric hematology and oncology.

Discover the Fondation

One day, a professor gave her students an assignment. She asked them to complete the following sentence:

“When I grow up…”

“I will be cured,” answered a young boy immediately.

That boy’s name was Charles, and he was 8 years old. He had already been battling leukemia for four years, defying all the odds. The year was 1983.

Five years later, all of Québec knew about his endearing personality and commitment to telling people about the day-to-day realities faced by sick children in Québec.  Charles was then hospitalized for the last time, and he made his father promise to continue the work they’d started together…

Look no further than Charles to find the Fondation Charles-Bruneau’s DNA.

A little man with the strength of a thousand, brother of Jean-Sébastien and Geneviève, son of Pierre and Ginette. Charles shared his dream with thousands of people in Québec, starting with our researchers. And his gentle presence reminds us, to this day, why we must continue working together towards a cancer-free future for children.
